The Complete Ultimate VR Gaming Workout Routine

Earlier this year, we put together the Ultimate VR Gaming Workout Routine. Every week for 8 weeks, we played some of our favorite VR games with the goal of getting fit for the summer all while having a great time enjoying a medium we love.

It was an absolute blast! We were even featured in Schell Games’ Until You Fall News! As promised, we put it all together in one easy article so you can have it all in one place.

The Ultimate VR Gaming Workout Routine is based on 3 main games. In Week 5 we add the option of adding two more games to the mix if you’re looking to up the challenge.

The 3 Main Games

Thrill of the Fight – $9.99

Our favorite boxing game is of course Thrill of the Fight. This game will is a wicked arm workout that will have you gassed out in no time. You’ll be able to up the difficulty as you get better — and remember to KEEP THOSE HANDS UP!

Pistol Whip – $29.99

If you haven’t already given Pistol Whip a try, you’re missing out. This game is so much fun and a really great legs workout. You’ll burn through some calories with this one for sure.

Until You fall – $24.99

This VR Roguelike has an awesome art style and will force you to swing your arms as you proceed through randomly generated levels. There are bosses at the end of every stage. As you develop your skills, you’ll get further and further!

Optional Games

Synth Riders – $24.99 USD / $28.99 CDN

Synth Riders is a game about following the flow of music. While soaring through synth-wave style environments you must keep your hands trailing the correct color. Playing songs in Synth Riders feels great, and you’ll find yourself dancing around in no time. The game comes with a huge library of free songs along with loads of extra content! This game is sure to make you move!

Beatsaber – $29.99 USD / $33.99 CDN

Before we get into the Workout Routine itself, we would like to mention that we are not health experts. You should consult your doctor or health care provider should you have any concerns.

The whole point of The Ultimate VR Gaming Workout Routine is to have fun. We aren’t going to be policing what difficulty or length of time you should play. Don’t push yourself past your limits — just try to enjoy the ride.


The Ultimate VR Gaming Workout Routine

Week 1

Remember that this is the very beginning, so we advise that you play at your own leisure, and we recommend to not overdo it. We suggest 30min sessions but listen to your body.

  • Monday – Thrill of the Fight
  • Tuesday – Until you Fall
  • Wednesday – Thrill of the Fight
  • Thursday- Pistol Whip
  • Friday – Thrill of the Fight
  • Saturday – Active Rest (Play whatever you want)

Week 2

  • Monday: Until You Fall
  • Tuesday: Pistol Whip
  • Wednesday: Until You Fall
  • Thursday: Thrill of the Fight
  • Friday: Until You Fall
  • Saturday: Active Rest (Play whatever you want)

We recommend a minimum of 30-minute sessions, but if you’re feeling good, just forget about the clock and have fun. Remember to stay hydrated!

If you’ve only grabbed one of our additional games, it’s completely fine to substitute one for the other.
