We finally got our first look at Resolution Games’ latest title Ultimechs, the arena-style mech game that follows the Rocket League soccer formula. Players will go head-to-head — in 1v1 or 2v2 matches — firing guided rockets at a giant ball, trying to knock it into the opponent’s goal.
Originally announced back in November 2021, Ultimechs showcased a cinematic trailer with little to go on but a mechanized war machine launching a rocket at a ball, knocking it into the opposing team’s goal.
Based on today’s gameplay trailer, Ultimechs will only support a teleport style locomotion, which Resolution Games is dubbing the ‘Dash System’. Players will dash between various nodes throughout the arena in an effort to position themselves for a better shot.
To be quite honest, this took us a little by surprise. Especially after the success of Nock, the bow and arrow game that follows the same formula and lets you glide across the map smoothly. Now, this isn’t to say that Ultimechs won’t be a great game. Resolution Games does have a great track record. After all, their game Demeo is on our list of What’s the First VR Game You Should Buy?
ULTIMECHS | Gameplay Reveal Trailer
Resolution Games did respond to some criticism in the Youtube comments for the gameplay trailer when questioned about not offering any other locomotion other than teleportation.
“Ultimechs is a game of fast movements and precise striking. The dash system allows players to move at speeds that would have been unfavorable using traditional locomotion, and keeps the game moving at an incredible pace.”

Resolution Games did confirm that Ultimechs will be releasing on all major platforms, so it’s safe to assume there will be a Quest 2 release alongside the PCVR version.
We’ll just have to wait and see what other surprises Ultimechs has in store for us as more info comes along.
Ultimechs is slated to release sometime this year.
